Confession: I’m a Windows 10 fan! I’ve been using it since September 2015 and I have absolutely no complaints about it. It’s easy to use, easy to navigate, packed with features and 100% better than Windows 8….and it was free! I even like MS Edge, the new browser – how sad is that!! Of course there are a few things which could be improved in Windows 10 but that’s nothing unusual for Microsoft software and certainly not cause to criticise what appears to be the most robustly created Windows Operating System ever. Heck, it even runs well on older ex-Windows 7 machines with 2Gb memory.
What really concerns me though is that the July 29th free upgrade deadline is fast approaching and there are still a lot of members out there who haven’t upgraded for whatever reason. Continue reading →
So you have upgraded to Windows 10 already and are familiar with what it has to offer.
If you are up-to-date you now have what Microsoft calls Build No. 10565 installed or updated automatically to your PC.
If you are awaiting Kapiti SeniorNet’s call to upgrade then the following tips will come in handy once you are updated because Microsoft has not publicized them.
At Kapiti SeniorNet as at all circles interested in computing and technology much has been talked about the second coming or rather Microsoft’s next iteration of their Windows 8 operating system, the when and the what.
It is by now well known that their new boss Satya Nadella is talking about big changes for the Microsoft organization which could mean anything from introducing a new business model to cutting their cloth to fit a slimmed down model.

A mix of fact and indeed personal opinion (mine). An informal (hard-)case study – in (two) pieces.
“Herein a life-long Windows user changes his (computing) position.” The title and intro may be described as overly optimistic by some esteemed readers. As a hybrid outcome is able to be seen as the prevailing situation, for now. Do appreciate the intention remains Apple clear and while the current update is mixed, the imagined, eventual and final, outcome is an Apple only computing future. And so shall we see . . .
And so it came to pass. But was it good?
In the beginning the word came from above, and it was good: Going Mac ~ Goodbye Windows? for those among you who would like to refresh themselves, or start afresh.
Finally, Apple refreshed their iMac ☛ offerings. His patience was sorely tested awaiting eventual availability (about one and a half years since the previous iMac hardware update) and then, at last (about another two months) for local delivery.
Yes, this concluding update is, long, overdue (about two years since the original story ~ Going Mac ~ Goodbye Windows?). And about one year since he accepted delivery of his brand new Apple iMac.Thank you for your patience. And so we begin . . to get happy 🙂
Keeping up with the times was never easy and that is certainly the case when it comes to technology. For companies in the business fortunes come and go, some become immensely rich and powerful and dominates the market only to find that they have missed a crucial change in user demands and find themselves on the backfoot.
Twenty years ago Microsoft faced anti-trust violation in the USA and the US government threatened them with
