eMail from Google about Google+

This is a quick message to all our members who have @gmail addresses….

You’ve probably received a message this week from Google telling you that your Google+ Account is being closed soon and wondered what it’s all about.

Long story short…when you signed up for your Google email address you were also allocated a Google+ Account (it’s like Facebook but it lost the “war”). Google have now decided to close the entire Google+ “Ecosystem” down and they are just letting you know before they delete everything.

Your xxx.yyy@gmail email address WILL NOT BE AFFECTED

We wrote about the demise of Google+ a couple of months ago in this article

If you never ever posted anything to Google+ (and most of you won’t have), then you don’t have to do anything.

If you did post to Google+ and want to keep any of the content, then you need to get on over there now and extract the bits you want to keep and store them elsewhere. Otherwise, DO NOTHING works for you too!

Goggle Plus now Google Minus

That’s the end, finished, kaput. GooglePlus has finally closed for good.

Originally Google+ was touted to become an all encompassing social network which would shake Facebook and become its serious competitor.

Instead it never got the wings to really take off and the death knell came by way of the enormous data scandals of recent days which not only hit Facebook and cost them billions in fines, but as we now learn, Google has not been free of data leakage and they assess that half a million users’ private details have leaked into unauthorized hands.

According to the Wall Street Journal Google has known about this since March but has kept quiet about it. An internal memo which the paper has obtained shows that Google feared the political consequences of a disclosure. The company said that the problem wasn’t big enough to publicise, and that the data which was leaked wasn’t serious enough  to make the breach public.

Last Monday Google nevertheless closed the whole GooglePlus setup.

They’re at it Again!

This is a very short post because I’ve said it all before…

If you get the following message in an email from Google, please click here and read the article I posted back in February. Nothing has changed!

Our recommendation remains the same….if you have a Gmail account and use either Windows Live Mail, MS Outlook or Thunderbird, DO NOT CHANGE THIS SETTING.

Sadly you can’t stop these unnecessary and irritating messages from Google. Just delete the email.
