This will be SeniorNet Kapiti’s last Newsletter for 2022

We wish you and your family a happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year. We hope to see you again at the Learning Centre in Raumati. Let’s ‘ring in’ the New Year together by putting some new skills into our tool box.

2019-20 Annual Report

At our recent Annual General meeting, our Chairperson presented the following Annual report.

2019-2020 Annual Report

Our membership at the end of the Financial Year (31 March 2020) was 333 including 9 Honorary Members.  Unlike many SeniorNets around New Zealand, our membership numbers are holding steady year on year despite around 90 resignations annually. Our recruitment efforts are clearly reaping rewards in new membership and I believe it is a testament to the quality and relevance of the courses and workshops we offer our members. Continue reading

To bike or to e-bike

resting e-bikerIt was in 2013 we first published an article on e-bikes here, and then again an update in 2016. Now in 2018 the e-bikes have made their presence felt with ever increasing numbers showing up on the bike paths that I pass or cross on my morning walk.

Most interesting is the age group taking up biking, or should that be ‘assisted biking’, certainly not youngsters, although probably the young at heart.

Facebook, love it or hate it

Facebook Back in March Facebook said that about 1.65 billion people used the site every month, not bad when you consider that the total number of people using the internet globally is around 3.17 billion.

With such an audience Facebook plans to collect information about all internet users through their ‘Like’ buttons and other pieces of code present on web pages across the internet. That will enable them to target ads to not just Facebook users but also to non-Facebook users.
