The latest version of Microsoft’s Office Suite to be known as Office 2013 is the 15th since 1989, and it promises to be different.
How is that you may ask, and the answer lies in the built-in tools for Cloud services and collaboration between and within groups, teams or individuals that has become important both in business and even for organizations like SeniorNet Kapiti.

be familiar with or have heard of SkyDrive or Google Drive, DropBox or iCloud and similar services, and now with Office 2013 documents are automatically saved to SkyDrive. This means that you can access your documents from any internet connected device any time, anywhere as well as keeping your documents safely stored. Lose your laptop or computing device – no worries just get another one and download your documents from SkyDrive.
If you do not have Office 2010 or intend not to get the 2013 version you can of course still use SkyDrive via your browser and be able to use the web apps supplied free of charge, not forgetting the Outlook connector pack available from Windows Essential. In Office 2013 the Skype programme, which is now owned by Microsoft, will integrate your Outlook contacts for ease of connecting with your contacts and give you 60 minutes free international call minutes.
Although cloud services provided by SkyDrive and the web apps available for many is more than enough, particularly if you also use Office 2010, the upcoming version 2013 also offer improved and expanded web apps so if you are a high level communicator or your work involves sharing with lots of other people then you may wish to take a closer look at Office 2013. I should mention that Office 2013 won’t run on Windows XP or Vista.
